3-year-old Chen Rui is a bright reminder that empathy and warmth know no age limits. Part of his daily routine is to greet the estate cleaners. Whether it is picking up leaves or simply chatting with them, Chen Rui’s friendship with the cleaners is endearing and heartwarming.

Chen Rui’s mother, Wong Jie Hui, a home-based baker and stay-at-home mother, says that her son has always been naturally friendly. “He’s curious and loves connecting with people,” she explains. There is also a deeper reason she encourages her son’s friendship with the cleaners. “I want him to know that all work is valuable,” she shares. In a world that often overlooks the essential work that goes on behind the scenes, Chen Rui’s mother believes in teaching him early on that no job is too small and that everyone deserves respect and appreciation.

Before Chen Rui and his family left for his father’s overseas job posting a year ago, the cleaners, who had formed a special bond with him, came to bid the boy farewell. They shared hugs and smiles, and took pictures together.

Chen Rui’s friendship with the cleaners is a reminder that even the simplest gestures—like saying hello or offering help—can make a big difference.

Take time to pause, smile, and lend a helping hand to someone who needs it. If 3-year-old Chen Rui can do it, so can you!
