Crossings Cafe

Crossings Cafe at Waterloo Street is a social enterprise that serves quality food at reasonable prices. All of its profits go towards charitable and social causes.

It also supports charities by providing meals for beneficiaries while providing employment opportunities and personal development for the disadvantaged to find more paths to success in society.

It collaborates with organisations such as Assumption Pathway School and Bettr Barista to take on students and graduates to work at the café as servers, cooks and baristas.

Metta Cafe

Metta Cafe was set up in 2014 to provide F&B vocational training for Metta School graduates aged 18 and above with mild intellectual disability and/or autism.

Metta’s mission is to provide an avenue for these youths to acquire vocational, work and life skills through its comprehensive training and development programmes. At the same time, it creates employment opportunities to help them achieve economic independence, self-reliance and build confidence.

ABLE, short for Abilities Beyond Limitations and Expectations, is a social service agency that aims to enable the physically challenged to live with dignity and have productive, meaningful and independent lives.

Established in 2010, ABLE is a member of Caritas Singapore, the social mission arm of the Catholic Church in Singapore. It serves persons with physical challenges and their caregivers through services such as rehabilitation and training, respite care and wheelchair accessible transport at its two centres in Agape Village.

Its rehabilitation and training centre runs a Return-To-Work programme, providing rehabilitation, employment support and training services to help persons with physical challenges increase their employability and return to the workforce.

ABLE’s Respite Centre supports the socio-emotional needs of family caregivers and their care recipients through services such as therapy programmes, workshops and volunteer activities.

Persons with mobility challenges also benefit from ABLE’s wheelchair-accessible transport services at reasonable rates.

This year, ABLE is collaborating with 1855, a local F&B brand, to bring a selection of cookies and CNY goodies.

Contributions from this fundraising activity will be used to support clients and caregivers.

Crunchy Teeth

Crunchy Teeth’s main focus is to build various training programs and create employment opportunities for those on the autism spectrum.

Set up in 2019 by a group of four mums of children with autism, the aim was to provide children and youths on the spectrum with employable skills and grow their confidence in a workplace environment.

It mainly focuses on handmade baked goodies such as cookies and pastries.

This Chinese New Year, Crunchy Teeth offers an array of sweet and savory treats, including mini peanut puffs, Nutella butter tarts and the classic kueh lapis. There are many other options available to choose from!

MINDS:

One of Singapore’s oldest charities, MINDS was founded in 1962 by a group of philanthropists to provide education for children with intellectual disabilities.

Since then, it has grown to be one of Singapore’s largest social service agencies caring for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.

This Chinese New year, MINDS is rolling out goodies like golden pineapple tarts and mandarin orange chocolate chip cookies, baked in-house by its own MINDS bakers.

APSN Café for All

APSN is a social service agency in Singapore providing special education, vocation training programmes and employment support services for individuals with mild intellectual disabilities, supporting 1,200 up to beneficiaries a year, including young children, youths and adults.

This Chinese New Year, APSN offers sweet, savory treats like pineapple tarts, cashew nut cookies and crispy fish skin with salted egg yolk.

These treats are handmade by special-needs trainees from APSN Centre for Adults and every purchase helps the non-profit to support and provide special education, vocational training and employment support for these beneficiaries.

The Ugly Cake Shop

A local online bakery that bakes artisanal cakes in Singapore, The Ugly Cake Shop uses part of its profits to help hungry kids in Timor-Leste.

It focuses on use more natural ingredients in its creations and doesn’t use additional artificial flavours or colouring to enhance its cakes; hence giving rise to its name The Ugly Cake Shop.

Nevertheless, many of its designs are extremely cute, and the confectioner has multiple sweet treats to satisfy everyone’s craving, from cakes to cookies.

In light of the upcoming Chinese New Year festivities, The Ugly Cake Shop offers customised cakes for the festive season.

Lina’s Cafe

Lina’s Cafe is a Muslim owned cafe that aims to create a safe haven for families with kids on the autism spectrum. Lina’s Cafe advocates for autism awareness and it serve coffees, simple halal food and snacks, including healthier food options.

Dignity Kitchen

Dignity Kitchen is a social enterprise that provides vocational training for adults with special needs, working with partners to create job opportunities within the F&B, hospitality and retail industries. It has another arm, called Dignity Mama, which trains youths with special needs to manage second-hand bookstores.

This Chinese New Year, Dignity Kitchen offers pineapple tarts, shrimp rolls, walnut cake, nian gao and assorted CNY cookies like almond and cranberry cookies, all prepared in-house by its beneficiaries.

In addition, if you’re planning for home parties, you can check out their bento sets starting from $8 per pax.
