Before you get too excited, do remember to register here as a plant swapper and prepare your plant roots for exchanging.

If you are unsure of how to prepare for the event, here’s how:

  1. Start rooting the plants you want to bring for the swap.
  2. Root the plants in potting mix or sphagnum moss.
  3. Place each plant into a bag and tag the plant/bag with your social media handle so your swapper can connect with you.
  • Let’s be more eco-friendly by placing the plant in paper bags!
  • Registered plant swappers are eligible for a Lucky Green Draw and a 20% discount on all plants and merchandise.

Date: Saturday, 10 December 2022

Think of Christmas and the end of the year, and chances are, you’d think of winter, snow and hot chocolate. But on our tropical island, it’s sunshine all year around.

Sounds like the perfect opportunity to lie in the sun while those o the northern hemisphere are wrapped in layers of clothes and sitting around their heaters!

Brought to you by non-profit organisation Singapore Life Saving Society (SLSS), the Beach Flag Festival (Dec 18, 9am to 7pm) aims to raise awareness on lifesaving and water safety.

The charity carnival features live performances, music, yoga sessions, fitness masterclasses, not to mention drinks, food, arcades and carnival games — it will be a day of fun, while educating yourself and contributing to the greater good!

You can sponsor vouchers for needy individuals so that they too can enjoy themselves this Christmas season while learning more about lifesaving and water safety.

In addition, the first National Beach Flags Championships will be ongoing at the same time, so feel free to head over and witness the qualifiers down to the finals.

All proceeds will go to SLSS’s Drowning Prevention and Water Safety Campaigns and providing lifesaving courses, CPR and AED certifications for underprivileged families.

Date: Sunday 18 December 2022

Time: 9am-7pm

Venue: Singapore Sports Hub, 6 Stadium Walk

DEC 1-31: SUPPORT CHILDREN’S CANCER FOUNDATION (CCF), SINGAPORE CANCER SOCIETY

If you’re unable to contribute in person, fret not! The Children’s Cancer Foundation is hosting a month-long fundraising campaign in December.

You can get friends and family to donate to CCF via giving.sg. If you run a business, you can also start a fundraiser of your own through donating a part of your sales proceeds through this link.

Alternatively, you can buy your Christmas gifts from CCF partnered fashion e-retailers Citrusox and Pazzion. For every purchase, $2 is donated to CCF.

A small contribution goes a long way. Proceeds go towards easing the burden of children with cancer and their families, as well as funding CCF’s programmes and services.

For more information, click here.

Similarly, you can also donate to Singapore Cancer Foundation’s “Return to Role” rehabilitation programme, which helps cancer survivors in their rehabilitation journey towards resuming their roles in life and get back into the workforce. For this campaign, regional insurer Great Eastern will match donations dollar for dollar up to $50,000.

Of course, this is not the end of the celebrations happening in December. Feel free to give back to the community in your own way—donations, charity drives, volunteering events. After all, it is the season of giving!
